Alzheimer’s Society

I think one of the most upsetting things that anyone can experience is watching a loved one, friend or even an acquaintance slowly disappearing. You can still see the person, they are there, in front of you. Sometimes you feel like they are with you, sometimes you just feel like they are somewhere else. The reality is that Alzheimer’s Disease takes people before they are ready to go but it doesn’t take all of them. It leaves bits behind, bits that you can see. You can see where the person used to be, they used to be over there, but that’s not where they are now. They are somewhere else, and wherever that might be, they are there waiting for their body to follow.

What is Dementia?

You can find a lot of information and loads of educational resources about Alzheimer’s Disease on the Alzheimer’s Society website.

[su_youtube url=”https://youtu.be/fmaEql66gB0″ title=”What is Dementia?”]

Alzheimer’s Disease is one of the causes of dementia, it isn’t the only cause of dementia but it is the most common cause. The word ‘dementia’ describes a set of symptoms that may include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language. The changes are usually small to start with, but over time the changes can become severe enough to affect daily life. The symptoms that someone with dementia experiences will depend on the parts of the brain that are damaged. People with the condition may also experience changes in mood and behaviour.

What am I doing?

I am dreaming of making some cash with this blog. It would be nice to make a lot of cash, but I suppose that’s the nature of dreaming. It would also be nice to be able to make a difference. So, whatever cash comes in (that would be cash generated from affiliate links after the taxman has taken his share), I shall be donating 1% of the incoming stash to the Alzheimer’s Society. If we are to enjoy the benefits of living longer, we need to be able to enjoy living.
